History of Kattumadam Mana traces back to the days of Sage Parasurama who created Kerala and brought Nambudiris from outside Kerala and allocated various jobs to them in the society. Kattumadam was one of the families selected to look after the mental health of the people. Later Kattumadam Nambudiris were made Thantriks of many temples of Kerala, mostly in Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Vadakara, Koyilandy and Thrissur.
